We love our great city, and we love it enough to demand strict fiscal accountability. Go to the polls and vote Against a 10.4% tax increase for you and your neighbors. The insert references www.jsn2010.com (a yellow page with the text from the flyer) and blog.jsn2010.com, which lists all and discusses some of the project proposals. I think the blog is interesting, as the format allows readers to comment on each project.
If I were on the council and had made a lot of porky promises, I'd think I'd be feeling a bit uneasy these days.

There are other areas of gathering revenue available for the City of Richardson and RISD. Dallas County collects property taxes for many other cities and school districts. If Richardson would consider joining with Dallas County, the residents of Richardson would receive one bill for the county, school, and city taxes. It would be an added convenience to the residents, and the current tax collecting departments of the city and school could be shifted into other areas of need, which is smart and economical.
Dallas County prints the statements, collects the taxes, and disburses the payments in a quick, timely manner to all the other jurisdictions. There is minimal waiting time for Richardson to receive their funds, and lots of money saved in billing, posting, etc. I think the money saved is significant to the residents.
Another area of value to the City is to allow Dallas County to add Scofflaw notices to the vehicle registrations of persons who ignore the citations. If you want to browse the Dallas County website, you will find Dallas County Most Wanted on www.dallascounty.org. The outstanding warrants are collected on-line, or the citizen may set up payment plans with the City of Richardson. There is a small fee for Dallas County to ask Texas DMV to add the Scofflaw notice, but it is a big win for other cities. Dallas County is collecting funds through Scofflaw for the City of Dallas, City of Garland, and other cities will soon be added. Dallas County collects for outstanding warrants for Dallas County as well. It is a profitable suggestion for Richardson to consider.
